
Handloom Day
This day also stands for the Protection of India’s rich handloom heritage and empowers handloom community with bigger and better opportunities. Dr.S.Ramkumar, principal of The United Institute of Technology addressed the gathering. Dr.Gokila secretary of WEC gave a short presentation on the history of National Handloom Day. This is the same day the Swadeshi movement was initiated at Calcutta against the British to boost the idea of self – help and self reliance on Indian goods and boycott foreign products.
