The UIT Central Library has a modern central library with 28527 volumes of books and 100 plus Journals from National and International Level. The Central Library on its own way to becoming an outstanding Learning Resource Centre by providing Right Information at the Right Time to the Students, Researchers and Faculty members.

The UIT Central Library is takes every effort for provide high quality of Library Service, It has fully automated housekeeping activities using Library Management Software called as “MORDERNLIB”. The open access system is observed in the library.

The Online Public Access catalog allows for the access of bibliographic databases of the books, CD-ROMs and journals available in the library. The catalog includes a word-based search facility using Boolean operators that can narrow down a search to meet very specific needs. Additional features of this catalog are:

  • Periodic list of recent additions to the library
  • Members can find the materials checked out to them
  • Details of the status of the Books can be accessed while browsing and searching for information

The Digital Library facilitates access to Electronic Information and library services to ensure that the information needs of our students, faculty, and staff are met. Also the Digital Library Sections are equipped with 10 terminals as a part of Central Library.

E-Resources:

  • DELNET: It provides access to more than 1 core and 25 lakh bibliographic records of Book, Journals, Journal articles etc., in addition several full text databases.
  • NPTEL: NPTEL (National Programming on Technology Enhanced Learning, IIT’s & IISc’ Professors Web video course are available to enhance teaching learning process of faculty members and students.

Book Bank Scheme was successfully introduce from the academic year 2011-12 onwards. This scheme will facilitate to the student as follows

  • Students will get 6 Text Books at the beginning of the semester.
  • Books are to be returned after the end of the semester examination.
  • These books will be over and above the regular library books.

  • Students and staff members of UIT are only allowed to use the library resources outsiders are not allowed without permission from principal
  • Silence is to be strictly observed in the library
  • Students can be borrowing two books at a time for a period of 14 days
  • Staff members can be borrow five books at a time for a period of one month
  • All books must be returned on before the due date
  • Books returned after the due date will be charged Rs.1/- per day
  • Books are required to be presented physically at the Counter for return
  • Members are required to keep their belongings at the property counter located in the library entrance
  • Personal books and belongings except for return are not permitted to be brought inside the Library
  • Bar code system has been implemented. Students can borrow books by producing ID cards
  • The final year students should return the books to the library before University Exams will commence
  • Writing or underlining in a book or tampering with a book in any manner is strictly prohibited
  • Books may be returned on all working days. Absence from the institution shall not be an excuse for any delay in returning the books
  • Books due on a holiday should be returned the next morning and no fine will be collected
  • Damaged books shall not be accepted and it has to be replaced
  • Students/Staffs who leave the college for any reason in the middle of the term should return the book and get No Due Certificate before leaving the college
