Science is the basis for all the other branches of Engineering Discipline. The department aims at providing competitive quality education and we support the students to lay basic profound foundation in all the branches of Engineering.

The motto of the Department is to provide high quality education to students with the assistance of well-qualified, dedicated and highly motivated faculty members. Our faculty’s research expertise includes all frontier areas in Mathematics. Physics, Chemistry and English. We impart the best teaching methodologies which prepare competent professionals able to independently apply knowledge to become a successful engineer.

To make the students understand and be aware of the importance of Sciences and develop a natural elegance and interest for Engineering and Technology which in turn will enhance and mould the student into a competent professional.

  • To inspire the students to take up authentic research, and innovation.
  • Encourage the practical applications of concepts through learning experience and active participation.
  • To improve logical and lateral thinking skills
  • Develop and sharpen students' ability to converse rationally, potentially, and innovatively in several ways that are appropriate for their discipline

Engineering Physics Laboratory

Department of Physics plays a major role in Engineering and Technology. It creates an opportunity for the students to understand the fundamental concepts of Engineering and Technology both in circuit and non circuit branches. In brief it lays a foundation in which the students want to excel in their own field of interest. The department handle Engineering Physics – I, II, Material Science and Engineering Physics Laboratory as entry level to promote the students to the next level.

Engineering Chemistry Laboratory

The Department of Chemistry deals with the Engineering Chemistry for all students of first year B.E. Courses. Chemistry is the basic subject for engineering students and plays an ample role when it’s time for them to practice the Engineering they have learnt. The Department also handles Environmental Science and Engineering course for the young engineers. The department not only concentrates on classroom learning of chemistry but also gives importance to the practical skills. The Department imparts both theory and laboratory courses for the syllabus prescribed by the Anna University.

Language Laboratory

The department of English aims to promote skills in writing, reading, listening and speaking .It also tenaciously adopts innovative teaching methods to tackle students (a) with rural background (b) lacking fluency in English (c) whose medium of instruction has been the regional language. The Department relentlessly pursues quality education in communication skills and Technical English caters to the needs of the students of budding Engineers.

Research Activities

The academic plethora of the department is supported by three doctorates, few are about to complete Ph.D., and others are aggressive to register for Ph.D. The faculty members are involving in academic & research activities; they are publishing their research work in reputed & referred journals.

The national conference “Recent Advancements in Science and Humanities” (RASH) aims to create an opportunity for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences. The conference lays a platform for the community of teachers and researchers to interact with the educational administrators at the highest level in which experts of national distinction deliver lectures on major achievements in their respective fields. The department has invited many eminent speakers from various institutions on a range of current research areas.

The main aim of Tamil Mandram is to spread the knowledge and understanding of Tamil language, beliefs, history and cultural values of Tamil Nadu to the students. This club plays a very important role in promoting Tamil amongst the students by organizing various programs, Tamil Oratorical contest, debate, poetry writing competition, essay writing competition, cultural events etc. A good number of students come forward to take part in it and also bag prizes both inside and outside the college.

The Bridge Course is aimed to act as a buffer for the new entrants, with an objective to provide adequate time for the transition to hardcore engineering courses. Students will be groomed for the foundation subjects of Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry. This gives them a breather, to prepare themselves before courses for first year engineering commence. During this interaction of 4 weeks with the faculty and their classmates, the students will be equipped with the knowledge and the confidence needed to take on bigger challenges as future engineers of this country.

The department of English has inaugurated BEC, the Business English Certificate Course in our institution from the academic year 2013-2014. The Business English Certificate (BEC) course which is an internationally recognized qualification builds confidence in students to use English in a work environment combined with the ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural environment. It opens doors to higher education, improves employment opportunities and because they are globally recognized, can increase learner’s choices for study or work. Students will be trained by our faculty members from the department of English who have got specially trained by the British Council at Chennai.

The main objective of the club is to develop the communicative skills of the students in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening by conducting various activities. The motto is to bring out the concealed talents of the students and enable them to succeed in this competitive Business world.

A student of mathematics with good analytical skills and logical reasoning can excel in any walk of life. The Department of Mathematics focuses on applied and applicable mathematics catering to students of varied backgrounds to help them understand their potential and enrich their lives. The department has highly qualified and motivated faculty that includes three research scholars. They regularly attend seminars, workshops and conferences to keep themselves current for efficient classroom management and to meet the challenges of a fast changing technical world.
